About the IAPS:International Academy of Physical Sciences was founded with its headquarters at Allahabad on December 4, 1994, to meet the above goals and objectives. This culminated into a foundation conference in which several scientists from different streams deliberated on interdisciplinary approaches towards conflict resolution for world problems. The Academy is conceived as a scientific body incorporating various branches of Physical, Mathematical, and Earth Sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Geophysics and Geography, Computer Science, Bio-Informatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, etc. The IAPS is a scientific organization of recent origin but it has already made its mark by involving in it through membership, fellowship, and activities, a large number of scientists of India and abroad, and its publications are helping in the expansion of scientific knowledge.
About University: Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University is Chhattisgarh's largest and oldest institution of higher education, founded in 1964. The campus of University is spread in 207 acres. It is well connected by air, rail and road between Howrah and Mumbai, and lies on NH-6. The campus is located at about 10 kilometers from the airport and about 4 kilometers from the railway station. There are Twenty-Nine teaching departments in the University. The total number of employees is 700. There are 5000 students enrolled for variety of courses and more than 100 faculty members are work for university. There are 180 educational institutions affiliated to the University. Recently the University receives DST-PURSE Grant.
About Physics and Astrophysics: The School of Studies in Physics & Astrophysics was established in the year 1972. Since its inception, the department has been imparting quality education at PG level and advanced research in frontline areas of Physics with major focus on Solid State/Condensed Matter Physics/Materials Science and Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A), so that students of this region get academically benefited at par with any leading National/International institutions. It is worth mentioning that Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University is one amongst only few Indian Universities, and the one in the new state of Chhattisgarh, where teaching and research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (A&A) is being carried out in the Physics Department. In material Science, two groups are there: Luminescent materials research group and solid state Ionics group. The department was recognized as Center of Excellence (1987‐1992) by M.P. Uchcha Shiksha Anudan Ayog, Bhopal. The department has received DST-FIST twice. The second DST FIST program has been approved to initiate two-semester specialization course on Physics of Nanomaterials for M.Sc student.
About Chemistry: SoS in Chemistry 1S one of1 'the oldest and most prominent departments in Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, founded in 1972. Under the supervision of dedicated teachers. it offers M. Sc. and Ph. D. programs. The academic achievements of the SoS are well reflected by over 800 research papers published at the world level and over300 Ph. D. produced covering a wide spectrum of the chemical science. It is a DST-FIST and; UGC-SAP sponsored department. The major fields of research are: Environmental Chemistry: Air quality monitoring and analysis, volatile organic compounds, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon etc. air quality receptor modeling forource characterization of air pollution mass. Nanotechnology: nano particle synthesis and its application, Surface Chemistry, Chemical sensors, Detoxification of pesticides Electrochemical sensors Energy Storage Applications and Supercapacitors.
About Mathematics: The School of Studies in Mathematics came into existence in 1991. The school offers a four semester (two year) post-graduation M.A./M.Sc. in Mathematics and research programme leading to Ph.D. degree From the very inception this school is one of the most active research center of mathematical sciences in Chhattisgarh State. The broad areas of specialization, of the faculty are Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Cryptography and Mathematical Epidemiology. The school has online access of MathSciNet through the UGC Consortium. From 1994, the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) has been providing Library Grant every year to support purchase of books related to Mathematics. The school IS also zonal centre for the award of NBHM, M.A./M.Sc. and Ph.D. scholarships awarded by the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India. The school has been recognised by the Department of Science and technology as 'DST-FIST sponsored Department' for the period 2010-2014 to receive funds for development of infrastructure. The School has produced around- 40 Ph.D. scholars. The faculty members have, got published more than 400 research papers in highly reputed journals. Faculty members have also completed several research projects funded by agencies such as UGC, CCOST, DST, CSIR.
About Computer Science & IT: School of Studies in Computer Science & IT was established in the year 1992 under the aegis of this University and with the support of UGC and State Government. It is working as an academic department of the University. Currently, the Department is running two years full time Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) and two years full time Master of Science in Information Technology (M.Sc.IT). Apart from this the department also conducts Ph.D. program. The Department is also providing research facilities and presently research scholars are working in the area of Parallel Computing, Big Data, Data Science, Internet of Things and Computer Networking.
